Fulham vs Nottingham Forest tickets for the Premier League 2024/2025 season are on sale on Visitfootball.
For a club founded in 1879, Fulham hasn’t quite achieved a lot in English football. However, the club’s rich history and incredibly passionate fanbase mean they will always be one of London’s prides, especially considering how the Cottagers are the oldest football club in the city.
The club began as an amateur side called Fulham St Andrews and changed its name to Fulham in December 1888, less than a decade after its establishment. The club competed in several regional tournaments, including the West London Amateur Cup, which it won in 1887. In its debut campaign in the competition, the club also won the West London League in 1893.
After several years in regional leagues, the Cottagers became a professional football club in 1898. That same year, they were allowed to play in the Second Division of the Southern League, becoming the third London club to go pro after Arsenal and Millwall. After a few years in the Second Division, the Cottagers were promoted to the First Division of the Southern League in the 1902/03 season.
Fulham officially joined the Football League in 1907, debuting in the Second Division. That season, the Cottagers enjoyed a remarkable run to the FA Cup semi-final, beating Luton Town 8-3 in one of the most exciting games in the competition. However, that run ended with a disappointing 6-0 defeat to Newcastle United, which remains a record loss in an FA Cup semi-final match.
The club has enjoyed significant improvements since Mohamed Al-Fayed took over as owner in 1997 with an investment of more than $7 million. The Egyptian’s investments in the London club proved too vital, as Fulham re-established itself as one of the most consistent sides in the Premier League upon its return to the top flight in the 2001/02 season. The club miraculously reached the final of the UEFA Europa League in the 2009/10 season, facing Atletico Madrid in the final.
After extra time, the Cottagers suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to the Spanish side. Still, that memory will continue to linger in the minds of the fans who witnessed their club challenge one of the toughest European teams in recent memory.
Fulham, now a regular presence in the Premier League, goes up against Nottingham Forest, which is this season’s surprise package. It will be a tough game for the Cottagers, as they haven’t been at their best in the league in recent months.
